Kim Vickrey was right.

My graphic design professor said that she won't take pictures at weddings. I feel like I now have a better understanding of how she came to that decision. Matt and Merry, newlyweds from Saturday, invited me to share their special day and to take pictures with the photographers. I always had it in my head that being a wedding photographer was something I would enjoy, but let's face it, I don't want/need that responsibility. Here are a few mistakes I made throughout the day:

1. I wore 3-4 inch heels. IDIOT.
2. I banked too heavily on the sunshine for my photographs, but the sunshine never came.
3. I was too afraid to simply ask the other photographers to move when they were in my shot. (now I'm having tons of fun editing them out.)
4. I should have switched lenses more.

I learned a lot from this experience and am very thankful for the opportunity I had. Matt and Merry were such a blessing to be around.

I'm really glad that you now have a blog so we can keep in touch better! This makes me pretty happy. Almost as happy as I get whenever I see my "plaster critters" in the floor board of my car. :)

and thanks about the pictures. :)

  5. what dinosaur? i like this idea already.
remember when we were going to paint murals on our walls at home? i still kind of want to, but i'm never home.

i think you're really going to like my next drawing assignment. we have to do something with repetition, and my professor is giving us a lot of freedom on it. so i'm running with that freedom by breaking from the traditional charcoal drawings that we have to do, and i'm whipping out the acrylic. yes, ACRYLIC. dun dun dun. i'm such a rebel. haha. but i'm using this really ancient camera and a picture of my great great great grandfather (who has an insane mustache, mind you). the camera will be the repeated image, but i'm not sure exactly how i'm going to execute it. but i went out and bought a 30x40in canvas, so it'll be the biggest thing i've ever done! whoop!

  6. that little triceratop! and i still one day will paint a mural on a wall where i live.

i like acrylics though :) i dont think i fully understand the idea, but i'm sure i'll like it when it's finished. i'm typing with one hand right now cause i'm holding a sandwich and it's difficult.

  7. that's really impressive.

thanks for being there when i was an idiot and left my debit card at the atm.

but basically, my idea just changed. i'm not going to use the mustache man, for now. i'm going to paint the picture that is now the top main picture on my blog. i'm not sure if i'm set on those colors or not, probably not.

i'm glad you texted me about going out for a little photo shoot. i would like too. bad.

and i went to your page and was like !that's a sweet picture! i love it a lot. and you know, i'm pretty partial to the colors of it :)

for real, or even setting up a set for a shoot would be fun.
